How to Send Tron (TRX) – Step-by-Step Guide

Sending Tron (TRX) is a quick and easy process that takes less than a minute once you have your wallet set up. This guide walks you through every step to send TRX safely from any major wallet including TronLink, Trust Wallet, and Ledger.

Prerequisites Before You Send TRX

Before initiating a transfer, make sure you have:

  • A Tron-compatible wallet (TronLink, Trust Wallet, Ledger, Exodus)
  • A sufficient TRX balance to cover the transfer amount plus fees
  • The recipient's correct TRX wallet address (starts with the letter T)

Step 1 – Open Your Wallet

Launch your wallet application. For mobile wallets like Trust Wallet, open the app and navigate to your TRX balance. For browser extensions like TronLink, click the extension icon to open the wallet dashboard.

Step 2 – Select TRX and Tap "Send"

Find the Tron (TRX) token in your asset list and tap or click the Send button. This will open the transfer screen where you can enter the destination address and amount.

Step 3 – Enter the Recipient Address

Paste the recipient's Tron wallet address. This is critical — always verify that the address starts with the letter T. Sending to an incorrect address or the wrong network will result in permanent loss of funds. You can also scan a QR code if the recipient provides one.

Step 4 – Enter the Transfer Amount

Type the amount of TRX you wish to send. Most wallets will show you the equivalent USD value. Make sure your balance covers both the amount and any applicable fees.

Step 5 – Review the Network Fee

Tron transaction fees are extremely low. If your wallet has enough bandwidth (which all wallets with any TRX balance receive 600 of per day for free), the fee may be zero or negligible. Otherwise, a small TRX fee will be deducted from your balance. TRX-to-TRX transfers do not require energy, only bandwidth.

Step 6 – Confirm and Send

Review all the details one final time — recipient address, amount, and fee — then confirm the transaction. Your wallet may ask you to enter a PIN, use biometric authentication, or sign with a hardware device (for Ledger). Once confirmed, the transaction is broadcast to the Tron network.

How Long Does a TRX Transfer Take?

Tron adds a new block every 3 seconds. Most TRX transfers are confirmed within 6–30 seconds of being broadcast. You can track your transaction status on TronScan (tronscan.org) using the transaction hash provided by your wallet.

Key Reminder

Always double-check the recipient address before confirming. Tron transactions are irreversible once broadcast to the network.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

The most common mistake when sending TRX is copying an Ethereum (ERC20) address. Even though some addresses look similar, sending TRX to an ERC20 address will result in lost funds. Always confirm that the address starts with "T". The second most common issue is insufficient balance — make sure you have enough TRX to cover both the transfer amount and network fees.
